Weekly News 12/21/11

Merry Christmas,
I have found that this year this traditional greeting has been a bit more evident.  Even in many stores.  Some even mean it.  We know that Jesus lives and we await His coming again.  Each age seems to be the last, but signs are becoming more and more evident.  I try to remember to pray for opportunities, surely many are missed.  Like a diet, each morning is a new start.  Keep living for Him as best we can and soon all will be clear.  Rejoice, Rejoice Christ the Lord was born to be our Savior, Lord, Councilor, Provider, .... and Friend today.
N

Please remember Pastor Richard Williams. ---  "Richard checked in with the Dr. and the eye patch was removed. Dr. said surgery results looked good. He still had to stay down and now they say he cannot drive for a month. He is going to try to come out for a few minutes on Wednesday eve. Blessings, Kay"

Disaster Relief Organization News:
I know it is a busy time of year but if in the next few weeks you could see if you have any folks in your congregation interested in participating in Disaster RElief efforts and Training as an association we would greatly appreciate it. With as few as a dozen they will bring the training to our area. In my experience this has given folks (especially active, retired folks or opnes with job flexibility) a great opportunity to join together, and with larger teams, alongside the Red Cross to minister to areas in great upheaval. There is no pressure to go at each call but there is a call to be equipped to go and minister by deed and service. The following is the notice I sent to Nancy for the weekly announcements.

The Siskiyou Baptist Association is attempting to pull together a team to prepare and equip adults to help meet emergency needs here in the Northwest. Bob Batte will be heading it up for our area and setting up a time for the state Disaster Relief Team to come and equip us. The class will be 3-5 hours and you must be 17 and over to participate. There is a minimal fee for your shirts which all D.R. workers wear as they go out to serve along the Red Cross. This isn't a mission opportunity with a set date... this is an opportunity to be prepared/certified to help in case of an emergency situation. If you are interested in joining please E-mail Bob so that he can ensure you are notified when the training date is set. Should an emergency arise Disaster Relief would send out a notice to our lead and he will send it on to those who have completed training. At that time you have the flexibility to say yes or no... the option and dates of availability are always yours however the deadline for us to check on associational interest will be January 16th.
