Weekly News 8/17/11

Whoo!  I'm not sure vacations are good.  When I got back it was like I had returned from another planet and had to re-orient!!  PTL for God's creation that allows us to see Him all around us.  If you ever get an opportunity to see the Hubbard Glacier...talk about the power of His creation.  Slowly the brain is catching up!!

While I was gone Danny Kuykendall had and has major health problems.  Last I have heard is he is still in the hospital in Calgary, Canada.  The problem is his heart.  Continue to pray for him, his wife, Laurie, and the extended family as well.

Please add John Dawson to your list of available supply preachers.  His information is: Email:  jcdawson4@frontier.com   Home:  541-247-6298  Cell:  541-373-3858

Ron and Carol Lloyd's new E-mail address is:  lloydrc61@gmail.com

Bro Richard Giles sent this to me and I thought it would be good to send on to you all:
Someone has said if Christians and Jews really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless.
Did you know that during WWII there was an adviser to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England , its people and peace?
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America .
If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (7:00 PM Mountain) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation.   If you know anyone else who would like to participate, please pass this along.  Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.  Please forward this to your praying friends.

It looks like Children/Youth Camp is going great with 140 attendees, this includes staff.  Continue to pray for those there that God would speak to each and every heart for salvation, service, etc.  What a blessing camp is to our children and youth.

A report from Carolyn Brons (College Heights Baptist) on a trip to the coast.  Their Senior group went to the coast and had lunch with the folks at 6th Street Baptist in Gold Beach.  She said that they were blessed with the fellowship and the food.  This is a great ministry to our sister churches.

Please be in prayer for a treasurer for SBA for the next year.   If you know of someone who is familiar with the job of treasurer/bookkeeping please let someone on the Admin Team know.   I do most of the work  so this person would be an overseer and report to the SBA meetings.  This person would be a signer on the SBA account as part of the position.

The NWBC is going through some major organizational changes.  If you do not get the Witness (and you should!) let me know and I can get you information regarding what these changes are.  As far as Region 4 we will be a much larger region going from the Coast to the Idaho boarder.  It includes the some of the old region 6.  Pray for our Region 4 team as their travel has increased a bit.

Also in the Witness information regarding Pastor Cluster Groups Beginning in the Fall.  If you are interested call:  Joe Flegal at 360-882-2121 or E-mail at:  clusters@nwbaptist.org  Register as soon as possible.

There is a Leadership Development Conference coming on September 10, 2011 at Vine St. in Roseburg.  "Pathways: Passages to Dynamic Leadership".  A PDF is attached for your further information.

If your church hasn't received information regarding the Senior Adult Conference to be held October 24-26, 2011 at Cannon Beach Conference Center I can get that info to you.  My copy came a bit tattered or I'd add it to this newsletter.
