Weely News 11/2/11

Hi Everyone,  We had lots of frost on our poor cold and wilted garden.  The chickens love cold weather and I really like Fall.  In one of many conversations with our son Peter, he said that where he is in the other country, that they really don't have a Fall Feel to the change of season.  Because it is too cloudy.  How about that Fall isn't Fall like we know it everywhere.  Another proof that God is Creator and He is in the details.  So how are your details, is He in them too.  Most of us He is probably only in the "important ones"!   I encourage us all to think small.
I so enjoyed the 5th Sunday Sing at Foothills this last Sunday.  Several folks have mentioned that to me as well.  What a sweet fellowship!

It has been brought to my attention that the Web Page Calendar is incorrect.  I will be changing that today so take another look this evening for the corrected calendar.   I noticed last time changes were made that you can have it connect with your computer or phone calendar and the updates are automatic.  So if you are a technically savvy person check that out!

Fellowship Team will meet tomorrow to finalize some of the upcoming plans.  So watch next week for any additional information.

Watch your Witness for all the information regarding the NWBC Annual Meeting:
The SBA folks will get together on Tuesday Night for dinner.  Please call me and let me know if you will be able to be a part of this time of fellowship. It is for all SBA Pastors, wives and other messengers and visitors from the SBA.  I will be working on setting up a place before we leave to you all will know time etc.

Looking forward to the NWBC Annual Meeting at Eugene, Valley River Inn (800-543-8266).

Annual Meeting, 15th and 16th, 8:45 AM both days.  With breaks for food.   Tuesday night usually has some kind of concert after the evening session and goes to 10 but I haven't heard any thing about that either.

I would like to encourage all of you to take part in at least some of these activities as well as the NWBC Annual Meeting.  It only meets this close every few years so take advantage of the great preaching and fellowship time that happens around this once a year event.

Well here we go with the usual but always changing events.  The Prayer list is back so please add these to your personal and church list.

Is your church having an event sometime during the holidays?  Please let me know and I'll post it here and on the web page.

Be in prayer for Cecil Sims, Executive Director of the NWBC.  He has cancer and covets your prayers.
The last 2+ weeks have seen some very positive improvement in dad's health situation. Two significant items have occurred simultaneously. The first is that dad has undergone 10 sessions of radiation which ended on Oct 17th. The second is that dad was placed on a course of steroids to help 1) counteract the side effects of the radiation and 2) reduce the swelling around the tumors in the brain that have caused the issues dad has had with balance and vertigo.
The steroids have had an almost immediate positive effect on dad's physical abilities and we are hopeful they will continue until the radiation treament will start to take effect on the tumors. The timing of any positive results from radiation treatment varies...it could show itself in a couple of weeks or take a couple of months. We are optimistic as a family that it will be sooner rather than later. However, there is no guarantee that the radiation will have a significant impact on the tumors as melanoma has been known (at times) to be resistant to radiation treatment.
In the meantime Dad has made his "escape" (his words) from the rehab center. He is home and doing well - he is able to walk a mile without assistance (no walker) and is working to get stronger. In an impulsive moment late last week he hopped in his golf cart and drove it down to the clubhouse to see some of his golf buddies. As dad has often told us, "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission." Clearly dad hasn't lost his drive or his sense of humor!
Please continue to pray that the radiation treatment will be effective on the brain tumors which may allow the doctors to consider treatment of the spots in the rest of dad's body. Thank you again for your support, your cards and letters and most importantly your prayers...we as a family and most of all, dad, have felt and appreciated each and every one.

As usual please let me know if the info here is incorrect.  Everyone would appreciate it.  Thank you.

I just want to remind you that the SBA Weekly News is on the www.siskiyoubaptist.org web site.  If you don't see what info you want here it may be there.  I am also a phone call away either at 541-956-7588 or my cell 541-659-7261.  Probably the cell phone is the best to call.  Also if you "Like" Siskiyou Baptist Association on Facebook you will get updates and reminders there as well.
